Motivational Monday: William Ernest Henley

I remember watching Part 1 of Oprah's Master class and feeling so inspired by nearly everything she had to say. To know that this woman came from nothing to rise above it all and be something is truly a story reserved for fiction. Even though she said many quotes that are Motivational Monday worthy, one quote or rather poem stood out to me the most.

The poem was Invictus by William Ernest Henley. It is a very short poem, but it was the last stanza of that poem that was the most touching...
"It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul. "

"I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul."

To me this poem means a lot of things, but the main thing that I receive from it when I read the last verse is that "my decisions and actions determine where I go in life."
