Basketball Team to Raise Money for Breast Cancer Research
The Think Pink Charity Basketball Game is an initiative
to bring breast cancer awareness and unity in the Morrow community.
Last year, Coach Yolanda Jenkins and the Morrow High
School Women’s basketball team raised over $1000 for the Coach Kay Yow Fund
with the help of her team and people in the community. She hosted the Think
Pink Community Health Fair which featured local businesses and government professionals
coming together to provide health and safety information to the community.
This year, Coach Jenkins and the women’s basketball team
hope to raise more money for breast cancer research and even more awareness of
the Kay Yow Fund. “Last year, we did a great job organizing the community and
the school to be a part of this initiative. This year, we hope to do it bigger,
better, and pinker,” states Shawntel Asemota, former student and local business
woman.
The Think Pink Charity Basketball game will be hosted by
the Morrow High School Women’s Basketball team on Friday, January 21, 2011 at
7PM. Coach Jenkins encourages the community to come out, get involved, and
donate to the Coach Kay Yow Fund on their behalf. For donation information
please contact Shawntel Asemota at Shawntel@soaeventconcepts.com or visit the event site at thinkpink2011.eventbrite.com
The Coach Kay Yow Fund and WBCA Pink Zone initiative is a
global, unified effort for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s nation
of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across
campuses, in communities and beyond.
