Motivational Monday: On Handling Embarrassement

So I watched the BET Awards last night...didn't think I would, but it was actually surprisingly entertaining (at least when you watched with the twitter commentary). And as most of you already know by now, there was a serious PR and technical mishap with the presentation of the Viewer's Choice Awards. Absolutely it was an awkward moment for the young lady who was chosen to present the award as well as the people behind the scenes, but as I watched the train wreck with my own two eyes I'm convinced that she handled it with true dignity on screen.

When an embarrassing situation like that happens, what can you do really? Cry and be mad? Storm off the stage? Curl into a ball and die? I'm sure she wanted too, but she tried her best to fix the situation. That is what today's Motivational Monday post is about...handling embarrassing situations with dignity.

"The rate at which a person can mature is directly proportional to the embarrassment he can tolerate."
        -Douglas Engelbart

So to you Miss Tiffany Greene, we watched you mature and blossom right there on television last night. Keep doing your thing! A minor set back is nothing in the grand scheme of things...

  1. She kept her poker face well on stage, but I read that she ended up bawling backstage. Can't blame her though.
